Seeing as how I own one of the best headphones there is, more or less (HD600,) there's not much to upgrde to in that department. However, i still want to own more headphones! This hobby (more like obsession) is not making friends with my wallet. Anywho, can someone recommend some entry-level phones (under $100) that a Sennheiser fan may enjoy? Grados are alright, but a bit too bright and harsh for me. Doesn't matter if they're sealed, earbuds, open...just no wireless! Thanks in advance.

Yes. And it's even made by Senn...HD497. A sort of "starter version" of the Sennheiser sound, and a leader in its price class (around the $50 mark).

A famous starter phone is the Sony V6, but if you don't like harshness, you may want to try before you buy.

People who like Senn sound ought to like the Koss KSC35 or PortaPro. These are both great portable phones. If the bass is a bit more than you want, go with the KSC50 instead; that's what I did.

Yeah, i'm interested in most of the phones you mentioned. I'm probably not going to get another Sennheiser phone for a while though. The Portapros and V6 are both headphones I want to look into, to see if the hype around them is justified.

I wonder why Headroom doesn't stock Sony headphones...

At least you have headphones. The only decent pair I had was a pair of KSC-50's, and now they broke and are off to Koss for repairs. Anyway, under 100 bucks? Portapros get my vote since I can't say Grado SR-80's

Id go for the mentioned 497s and Grado SR-80s as well as the venerable KSC-35s. They have reached a legendary status here (for their price point at least). This would be a good place to start at least and don't shoot down the 497s just because they are just another Sennheiser. They are a great value!
