Well i know that the ue5c's are custom molds but I am wondering if they sound that much better than the e5c's? I enjoy my base and that is why I currently have the e2c's, but I am seriously considering duel drivers. I would love to have a pair of ue5c's custom but are they really worth the extra 300.00 plus the 25 to 100.00 fititng cost?

I've owned both E5's and UE5c's. The UE5c's IMO are in an entirely different league. The bass is more clear and they have a decent high end. I highly recommend, but not as a first IEM. If you have never had an IEM, you should try a universal fit first to see if they are for you. You can sell it later if you decide to move on.

Not to threadcr*p, but how did your re-fit go today?

Does the UE5c have treble comparable to the Ety ER-4? I don't like the rolled-off treble in the Shures. Does the UE5c have much of a treble roll-off compared to Ety?

ummmm....they both use the exact same drivers. ilounge did a comparison of the two. i think it's in their "buyer's guide" download. They use the same drivers, so i would assume they sound pretty similar. Both of them have great bass, but have a slight treble rolloff. If you really want bass, go for the UE 5 hybrid that's around a similar price.

BRBJackson, my refit went okay. Mike Dias walked me to their technician (who was also named mike) and asked me what was wrong. I told him that my right canal phone wasn't getting suction and the bass isn't full unless I push them in (with my finger) to get the proper seal. Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of bass, but when I that perfect seal, the sound is amazing. The technician then, looked up my name in the computer and realized that I just had it for a week, so he was like "Ooh wow, you've just got it, just leave these with me and i'll call you back when I've fix them." I was hoping he would fix them right then and there since it takes me an hour to drive there and back; but apparently he needs to go back and check out the ear impressions that Noy took to fix the problem. Hopefully I'll get it back by next week.

On a side note, I listened to the UE5c with a CMOY with Burr Brown OPA2227 using my pocketdock and their were more details. However, there's way too much bass, can you bring your Coda to the meet? I would like to audition it. Moreover, how's your quest for the UE10-Pro? If you haven't gotten it yet, get it, I'm sure it would sound amazing with your new gilmore lite!

My Porta Corda is in Germany at the moment, being tweaked by Dr. Meier (new jack and gain adjustment). If it gets back here in time for the meet, I'll def. bring it so you can try it out.

As for the UE10's, a major pantload of 'other' expenses has pushed it back further, so until then I can just dream of sonic bliss.

Got my UE5c back today (2 days later when I turned it in) and the seal was a lot better. Noy said he re-did the entire right canal phone just to get it to just right. The people at UE were really nice. I talked to them for a few minutes about the UE10-Pro and tried to get Noy and Mike to attend the August meet. Noy informed me that Mike might go to demo some UE products, but it is unlikely that he's able to make it. That's a shame because it's a great audiologist.

BRBjackson, I'm telling you- you're missing out on some great sound. The UE10-PRO is waiting for you at UE

P.S.
It sounded even better than before

That's interesting, Mike hasn't responded to my e-mails about the meet...

I hope he does make it. It would be nice to have them there. I'd really like to hear the Super.Fi 3 Studio.

Sorry about the thread jack...

When I mentioned the Head-fi meet, I told them that it would be a great opportunity for them to show off their products to audiophiles. Everyone seem interested, too bad I didn't see Mike there, or I have encouraged him to come.

Yeah, I probably should have sent the e-mail to Mindy instead... I'm kinda dissappointed in Mike, I've sent him two e-mails, one last week and one yesterday and he hasn't replied to either one. Hopefully he's on vacation or something and they just don't have an autoreply setup. If that's not the case it's pretty lame that he hasn't answered back, even if to say nothing more than that he wouldn't be able to make it (well that and an answer to the question I posed. I'll let that one slide a few more days though since I didn't ask the question until yesterday's e-mail).

I think there's something really important that's going on with Mike. Usually he would reply to my e-mails within hours. But in the last couple of weeks, he has been really slow with e-mails. I mean, I had to call him to get a response from him. Many of the phone calls are coming from Britney at UE rather than Mike. Which is strange because he and I usually do the communicating about UE5c. So I think you should give him a break, it might be something very important; and try e-mailing someone else.
