Hi everyone, I'm new to this forums and i just want to say this is a great forum.

I have a pair of Vmoda Vibes and it seems like they're gonna die soon. I'm thinking about getting a pair of UE Super Fi5 Pros. I'm just wondering, what is the bass compared to the Vmodas? I'm listen mostly to hip hop and rock. I'm planning to get Comply foamies also.

V-MODA's earphones all have shady quality, and their sound is very sub par imo; they tend to destroy the percussion section.

Yes, I have listened to both earphones in question very thoroughly before, and the 5 Pro will further de-tune things, having such a recessed midrange that the great majority of the instruments and all vocals will sound like they are being played behind a stage curtain.

I can't offer you alternatives right now, but if you can look at the Yuin Pk2 earbud, that would be my first choice as a V-MODA replacement of any sort.

If you still want that in-ear aspect though, look at the Jays line-up, most noticeably the d-JAYS model.

Staying in the same price range you might want to look at the Denon C700 or C751 (they are the same phones).... there is a long thread here on the C700s... do a search.

The Modas I've tried have more bass, but it's less controlled, more bloated, and less detailed compared to the Super.fi. The Super.fi have less bass, but I prefer the quality of it over the quantity. If anything, you can amp or EQ it.

I have the Super.fi 5s and love them. They may not be the most accurate IEM, but they accent the bass and treble enough to where they are very fun to listen to. Definitely a good choice for hip hop and rock. I picked up some cheap on Amazon, whose price seems to fluctuate based on demand.

thank you guys for all the quick replies. Now i'm extending my budget and found a liking to the UM2's, i heard these had great bass good mids and rolled off highs? Will these be a step up from V Modas?

I'm also looking into Livewires, i really like cheap, well made customs, but my main concern is the bass. How well does the bass stack up to the UM2's and V modas?

I had a friend that got the Vmoda Vibes which I think are overpriced. They supposedly sound much like the Denon c551's. I had the Vmoda Bass Freq for about 2 months and they just quit out on me from normal usage (I think it was a cable problem). Look into the those c551's and see if you like em. I'll be in the market for something around $50-$70 IEM soon so tell us how the purchase goes, for whichever set of phones you decide to get

If there's one IEM that has recessed midrange, it's the UM2. Recessed = laid back instead of upfront. I love upfront, cold and energetic sound and the super.fi definately delivers that. The UM2 sounds the complet opposite of that, warm, thick and laid back. Dunno about the Vibes though, but they are inferior in terms of price/specs.

The UM2 should be pretty bassy. I would definitely choose them over the Modas.
