Hello Head-fiers. I've always read the threads here, and I enjoy this forum a lot!
I currently own a pair of Sony's EX90 and use them with my 80gb 5.5g iPod. Im planning to purchase a pair of UE's Super.Fi 5 Pro and I would like to know how better they are comparing to the EX90s, in most aspects, if possible. Build quality, audio quality, etc...
I'm not a basshead, but I enjoy bass presence. EX90's bass is like sufficient for me... nothing below that would please me, and a much louder bass would not suit (that's the reason I'm not considering the Super. Fi 5 EBs).
Thank you all!

I actually had the EX-90s and then went with the UE Super.fi 3 then the 5 EBs. Shortly after I replaced them for the Pro. They are big step up. As for the bass they very tight and not over powering like the EBs but still notably stronger then the EX-90s . The EBs were a bit much. The 5 pros sound great. Way better then the sonys.

Havent heard the EX-90s but I had the EX-85's and my old super fi.5 pros won hands down when compared. Alot more isolation and better soundstage.

The EX90's are a bigger step from the EX85's believe it or not, even with the same drivers. The treble is much more sparkly, and the bass is a lot tighter, but with less of it.

If the 5Pro's are anything like the 5EB's they are horrible. The treble on the 5EB is like someone schreeking into your ear. The 5EB's also didn't like high volumes, and distorted like crazy.

There also wasn't that much bass there, not as much as everyone makes out. I wouldn't bother tbh.

Cheers,
MiG

You must have tried a faulty set of EBs because they don't distort easily, and definitely don't have a harsh treble. If anything, the SF5 has rolled off treble.. You probably didn't get a good seal.

To the OP, the SF5 Pro make for a great IEM. They have nice bass but not overpowering at all, combined with the clarity and separation that only a dual (or more) armature IEM can deliver.

Sorry to steal the thread but can someone comment on the super.fi 5 pros, how deep to they go into your ears compared to Etymotic 6/6i and Senn CX300?

If you mod the Sony EX90, they should be about on par with Super.fi 5 Pro and other dual-driver armatures in sound quality.
