OK I am not sure if anyone has both of these but I would like to hear how the two compare.

I have both so I'll give it a shot...

The UE5c have a clear sound signature with what I perceive to be an unnatural bass bump that can be annoying. I'd imagine once you get used to it then it is fine, I just never seemed to acclimate to it. Also, owning the UE10pro, I get frustrated listening to the UE5c since it gives me a mere taste of what is possible with the UE10s. So basically I end up listening to them for a few minutes and either picking up the UE10 or the Westone ES2. Not that the UE5cs aren't a nice IEM, they are, there are just two others that I tend to prefer more.

In comparison, the ES2 is warmer with a better balance across the spectrum from high to low. The bass is better integrated into the sound so it sounds more like live music. The midrange on the ES2 is also killer...and I'm a sucker for a killer midrange.

Hope this helps.

While I don't own the ES2 (hopefully soon though) I have demo'd the universal fit UE-5c next to the superfi 5 pro. The sound is almost identical, so if you like the superfi 5 pro you'll like the UE-5c. I also agree with Digihead, I think the bass emphasis would get annoying.

I like the base of my shure e5c and that is why I went with the ue-5c. Maybe in a few months I will purchase another pair of customs from someone other than UE.
