now that i have my PPX3, i'm hearing this fantastic, deep, strong, powerful but super controlled and refined bass out of my CD3000's. while i still very much enjoy the sound of my ER-4S when on the go, i'm finding the sound to be a little bit wanting when it comes to bass. i never thought i would say that, but i guess i've become a sort of bass head now that i've been exposed to good bass.

however, i'm not just looking for good bass, i also need a good midrange and extended detailed treble, which i also get from my CD3000/PPX3 combo. i feel that the ER-4S gives me what i want in the midrange and treble. would the UE-5c's give me the bass i want without sacrificing too much midrange and treble? if they do, i can see me getting a pair this summer. now, i know that a bunch of people are gonna say "just spend the money on the UE-10's or Sensas, as you know you are going to be curious about what they sound like". well, too you i say this: "i can maybe spend the $600 or so that the UE5c's cost, but i can't in any way spend $8 or 900 anytime soon", so please no "get the UE-10/Sensaphonics" responses. thanks for your help!

Have not tried the ER but I do have both the UE5c and UE10 IEMs. I use a few specific songs to check for high freq (at least high to my aging ears), and find both of these have equal and very good high freq. response. If anything, the UE5c is "smoother" than the UE10 (in my opinion, of course). [Driving both straight from iPod]

If you were trying to come up from Shures, I could give you all kinds of feedback.....but I've never heard Ety's. You may prefer the Ety detail (real or fake) I always hear about.

Overall I find the UE5c's to have lots of bass, but they don't have the scope of bass response that I see with my Grado 225's. However, the bass it does have is clear, present, and enjoyable. The mids and especially the highs were really a breath of fresh air for me coming from E5's.

You should talk with dmt1 or Iamdone....I think at least one of those guys have heard the Ety's and the UE5c's.

Sorry, I have the ue10 and sensas. I still have the etys E4-p w/S cable as well which my wife now uses.

Here's a good review from a former etys user, Utdeep, about the ue5 vs ue10:
