They'd be driven by an Emmeline SR-71, through a Rio Karma. If music makes the difference, than I feel I should say I listen to some Holst every now and then (gotta have the nice classical,) and other times I'm listening to bands such as STP, The Deftones, Tool, APC, AIC, etc etc. Thanks guys.

Man I think it's hard to compare those two products, but if you are considering the UE-10's, why don't you just go with them? They are a little more portable than the 650's, and I haven't read a bad review about them yet.

By the way, I'm huge Tool and APC fans, you can tell by the avatar

I remember when I owned the Senneheiser HD600 and I walked around campus with them connected to my HeadRoom Cosmic (Reference Module) and the HeadRoom Traveler Bag. EVERYBODY WAS STARING AT ME!!! That was the last time I tried that combination on the go.

I can't help you about your headphones decision, but you've got good taste in music.

W, I think it's notewhorty to add that a lot of people advised me against buying a quality amplifier to then use it with the headphone out on the Karma. Many seem convinced it kinda defies the purpose.

Thanks about my music guys, I love it too. So gorman, in general what makes the Ultimate Ears stand out more so than say the Shure E5's? If you could link me to your review if it's not to much of a hassle, it'd be great.

Maybe I am misunderstanding what you are saying Gorman, but I'd be carrying around the dock and using the line in from there, not the headphone jack. That is, if I were to use an amp. And when at home, I'd just use my good ol' Marantz as my source.

Soundstage. With headphones you get the perception of the instruments being spread around the room better, but with canalphones you usually just get the feeling the sound is eminating from within the head.

Sadly they are still being made at UE. The impressions have been there a week and I've been quoted dispatch before 10th June.

When I get them I'll be able to compare to the Shure e2c, e3, e5, and Ety ER4 that I've owned before.

It's linked in my signature. And I didn't think you planned on carrying the dock with you. I'm almost certain it will drain batteries faster for some reason that I can't remember but that was discussed at Riovolution.

It shouldn't drain the batteries faster as long as the dock is just being used as a line out. If you had it connected to a computer via the dock and it wasn't connected the AC mains then it would drain the battery quicker than if it were just switched on normally. There was a thread over at Riovolution about it.
