Hey all,
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, with a Schiit Modi USB DAC. My sound output has 3 choices-
Digital Output (S/PDIF) Built-in Audio
Analog Output Built-in Audio
Analog Output Schiit USB Audio Device
The Analog-Schiit setting works, but the "Analog" confuses me. Could it actually be outputting an analog signal into the DAC? Or is this working as it should?

Thanks.

I recently picked up a Modi and am running Ubuntu 12.04.  Did you do anything special to get the Modi to show up in your Sound->Output list?  I have only the built-in stuff showing.  Are you running PulseAudio?  Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

I occasionally have that issue, I just do
sudo apt-get remove alsa-utils
sudo apt-get install alsa-utils
All it is telling you is that it's outputting to the analog out (RCA's) on you DAC. The input will always be digital with the DAC you have.

Alright, thanks.
