Hi guys,
So the right side of my lovely Shure SE535LTDs has run into a problem where the coaxial stem has been split down the middle and now whenever I move the cable around or just move in general the sound cuts in an out. I asked the Australian distributor/repairer about repairing them and they said that they can only replace the earpiece. The cost of replacement is $330 for the single side. I've done some research and Unique Melody will reshell for $300. I can also add 1 driver (around $125 extra) or 3 drivers ($350 extra) but I don't know what it'll sound like. What do you guys think would be the better option? Replace or reshell?

Thanks

I would reshell. The replacement may sound different enough to bother you anyway. At least if you get them reshelled, they will still sound the same on each side.

They should sound similar regardless no? I'm hoping that UM reply soon about what drivers are added to the Shures if I get them reshelled with extra drivers. Do you reckon that adding a driver would be good?

Get the 846.

I wish I could but I can't afford it sadly. I'd probably just get a set of UM Miracles if I could afford the 846

I am awaiting my NuForce Primo 8 being reshelled by Advanced AcousticWerkes.
I got disappointed with its paint peeling off.
I will post here when I get it back.

Besides Unique Melody, LEAR can also reshell the SE535LTD and add one dynamic driver:

Ahh ok, interesting. I read the second link before, brought up some very good points. How did reshelling change the sound of your IEMs?
