I have always wanted to have a wooden headphone stand. So one day when I was operating in "cheap ace" mode (which is my normal operating mode by the way), I picked up some wood stuff in the crafts section of a thrift store.

Left to right: a wooden crafts stick of some sort, nice grain hardwood, possibly walnut; a wooden bowl, again with nice grain; a nice pepper/salt shaker, oak?
The bowl was $0.59, the shaker $0.99, but there wasn't a price sticker on the craft stick so the store lady ripped me off.... "$1.99, no return because there is no sticker on it, do you still want it?".............. "err....yes...".......(ouch).

By drilling a hole in the center of the bowl and the bottom of wood stick (or pepper shaker), it will be very easy to join them with a long wood screw.

Here is how the stand could look like (haven't drill/joint them yet, but that will be easy once I decide which configuration is better).

I think this bowl might be a little on the small side. I really like the idea of holding all the cabling within the bowl, looks neater this way. Might have to go back for the 10" $2.99 wooden bowl

(I was trying to keep the total cost within $3, and I am already over budget!

Thrift store shopping is always fun, if you haven't done it already, try one this weekend.

Pretty clever.

That last one looks like a pepper grinder, don't know why, but that's what it reminds me of.

My vote goes to the first one. Wooden crafts stick salad bowl upside down.

The last one is hillarious. A pepper mill and a salad bowl. All you're missing is some arugula, tomato, and blue cheese.

The OP says in his first post that it's a pepper shaker.

excellent idea but wouldnt it be easier to knock over the headphones? couldnt they just slide off with a slight force? just trying to think of ways that you might idiot proof it...perhaps something with a flatter/longer top? sort of like a t - shape (hammer?) hmmm....whats cheap and has a t - shape?

Ah, practical schmacktical!

Yeah, there is that but in practice it works a lot better than it looks.

What I really, really want and I'm sure it goes completely against the whole raison d'être of this thread is a headphile stand like the following one but which would take six pairs...

and which would be the tall version like this one:

...but then it has to in aniline blue like this one:

and after all that last time I looked, I couldn't figure out how to calculate the price of such a beast on the headphile website.

And that's why I'm still using a dodgy old paper towel holder.

I got the woo audio headphone stand for christmas. But good idea. The woodgrain obviously doesn't scream "quality" on either stand, but it's better than using banana hangers from bed bath and beyond like people here used to suggest.

The vodka bottle works really welll.. and it was free. We had some friends over and they were kind enough to drink the rest of it!
