Er, so "Tuberolling" is swapping tubes to find the optimal balance of sound? Is that it or have I missed something...?

Yes, and there are many different types of tubes that have their own sonic signatures. Hrmm I heard an mg head once... ^^

That's it in a nutshell. I know Nick Dangerous for one has reviews/guides describing the effects of different tubes, some have better defined bass, wider soundstage, crystal clear highs, etc. It's a whole 'nother ride going that route, mating cans/amp and experimenting with tubes. I read Kelly's review (http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showth...threadid=17448) of the new Sonic Venture Reality hybrid and am getting the strangest itch...

Tuberolling is a game played by audiophiles.

Here's how you play:
First, take your tube (preferably exspensive NOS) to the top of a staircase. Then gently roll it over the edge, giving it enough momentum to make it all the way to the bottom.

If the tube breaks, you lose.

Now this is a much more plausible explanation... thanks

Tube rolling is what happens when you're changing the tubes in an amplifier, and four cats see bright shiny objects that look like toys sitting on the table...
