I know that Stax makes tube amps, but I have never read anything about replacing the tubes in them. Is it not possible to replace the tubes in the Stax? Has anybody tried putting other tubes into the Stax's?

Also I saw this link on Headwize and thought I would post it here:

It has a lot of good pictures of the Stax lineup.

It is possible to try other brands of 6FQ7 tubes. I've heard that RCA cleartops are recommended by many, but since I haven't had any experience with official Stax amps, I don't know how the performance changes (if at all).

Of course, it is possible to readjust the amp for other types of tubes. For example, Kevin recommends the following for 007t:

--- Kevin Gilmore:
Of the 9 wires going to each of the 4 tube sockets
disconnect 1,2,3,6,7,8
The wires that went to 1 and 6 ties to pin 9
the wire that went to 2 tie to 3
the wire that went to 7 ties to 6
the wires that went to 3 and 8 tie to 2

replace all 6fq7 with 6s4 and readjust the bias.
---

Something similar may be possible for 006t. Probably it is possible to use some totally different tubes as well after performing proper adjustments.
