I know a lot of us are into vinyl in some way.I also know that most of us are not.I have formed my "Hit List" of head-fi members whom I know to be prime candidates for the leap to vinyl.I want to call these guys out for conversion to vinyl.

Jude- C'mon man it's your world, what's the deal.

Highwaystar- get a bigger place and buy a turntable, soon.

Elrod-tom- OK,what's your excuse?

Gopher-make it quick

Kelly- I'll even send you some records

MarkL-you too

Grinch-Get a table and the axe is buried....under a pile of free records.

John_jcb- so close,yet so far.

Macdef- you'll have something else to argue besides HD600 vs. ????

Antness-maybe if he had a turntable.........

Mr.PD-

Reynman- Dude,what's the hold up?

Zanth-

Kieran Komito- make your awesome system complete with an equally awesome analog rig.

Dr.Jan Meier- I read that goofy stuff on your site about digital sounding better. Are you serious?

Ebonyks-

Angel_Teres- with your cash you should own a bunch of tables and a record store.

GerG- I would love to talk tables and cars in the same conversation with you.

I know I missed a bunch of members but You all know who you are. These are the folks who I know would benefit from a good analog rig.You guys are all missing out,the best music ever made is on vinyl and you'll never hear it unless you get a table.

Hell, i enjoy my dad's ****ty technics table and intergrated phono-pre amp more than my ns500v. You already know i'm on the vinyl boat

Now, let's discuss price

And antness is definately intrested in vinyl, i'm sure you could convert him easily.

I wish I could take the leap. Perhaps one day when funds permit.

If you send me some records, can I sell them? If so, can you sign a form stating this and send it along with the records? Thanks.

Ey? My dad has a ****ty technics table w/ integrated preamp too! I found a whole bunch of records.. I think I now like laughing len [leonard cohen]. I also think the table sounds better than my CD player, but then again, so does my portable MD [Sharp DR7].

Hi tube,
Thanks for the offer, but unless I can get a giant 5-LP changer (imagine the size of such a thing
eek.gif
), that lets me fast forward and skip ahead to different tracks, and automatically flips the albums over to side 2, I think I'm "stuck" with digital. For me, digital is not without *some* advantages over vinyl, not least of which is convenience, and durability of the medium (albums "wear out" the more you play them, do they not?). Having finally upgraded my digital source to something truly outstanding, I've made my peace with the CD.

Cheers.

Dude, I have several tables. I have one in here, two in the livingroom and I even have one in the dining room. Ok, I tell you what, send me enough of them rare classic LPs that I can sell a few to fund a turntable and I'll buy one. Hell, send me enough to fund a whole new audio system. That'd be great.

Seriously, vinyl's just not for me. I really want there to be only one format. I'm pissed already that there's DVD-A and SACD and they're seperate from DVD... and then all SACDs aren't even hybrid. In my eutopia, there's only one disc spinning machine in my component rack and it plays every disc I own. As is, I have this highly modded SACD player that doesn't even do DVD-A and a horribly outdated DVD player that doesn't even do DTS or progressive scan. Ah well, that Denon 2900 of yours seems up my alley but I think I'm going to try out the HTPC route.

C'mon guys, vinyl really sounds great. I ended up selling my SCD-555ES to upgrade my phonostage (to one that costs more than my preamp) and go all out vinyl. LPs on the VPI Scout totally trounce SACD/red book on a stock 555ES which isn't too shabby. Vinyl has a special musicality that digital will probably never be able to reproduce. Thanks again Tuberoller & Carlo for the recommendation of the VPI Scout.

I have never liked CD changers but I guess they have become part of the modern audio system.

I really want to get into vinyl more. Cost is a huge issue though.

I only have an MMF-1 right now, as well as a crappy radioshack phono preamp. I still have to get a record cleaning machine before i can even start with a better turntable. I do know that a good vinyl setup will slap around a digital setup like a little bitch.

Oh man, you don't realize what you are missing. Holding that life size picture in front of you, not needing a microscope to read the notes, learning the art of handling the LP by the edges, gently running the dust brush over it then carefully and gently lowering the needle on to the surface at just the right spot, then grabbing the cover as you DIVE for your favorite chair before the music starts! And 15-20 minutes later having to stand up and do it again.

I think thats what I like most about vinyl: you can't just put it on and ignore it for 5 hours, it DEMANDS your attention.
