I have an LDII+, and have a question about tubes. Will any tube with a 6CQ6 socket work for the front tubes? I found an auction with 4 Westinghouses and one Mullard for $10.45 after shipping.

"R2479 Vacuum Tube/ Tubes: (5) 6CQ6 Westinghouse ( one labeled Mullard). NOS."

"All vacuum tubes, unless specifically stated otherwise in the description, are untested. NOS means that the tube brand and number match the tube box. All tubes are sold as is with no warranty or returns." That isn't a big deal, is it?

So, does this sound like a good price for 5 tubes? Should I grab it while it's available?

Thanks

6CQ6 is listed as an equivilent for the EF92/CV131... so it shouldn't be a problem.

Typically you at least want them to be tested but you are getting 5 for 10 bucks, so at this price point it isn't really an issue as i'd imagine you will have at least 2 good ones that aren't overly micorphonic. The stock Mullard's aren't that bad, but that's one thing tube amps are all about, rolling so go for it!

45 minutes left. No bids. It's these 5 for $10.45 or a different auction for 4 of them for $14.45.

Should I grab the 5 even though they are untested? Is there a danger to just sticking untested tubes into an amplifier?

The description does not indicate those tubes are NOS or tested. It's a risk of $2-3/tube. You might want to make sure this is what you want, unless the cost is not an issue.
