I know this has been asked before but how many tubes (and what value) do you guys have?

I have around 140 premium 6SN7's alone and I don't want to think of the value

Oh - I think I have a about 35 different 12/6SN7GT (different years not counted if not important) and around 1 - 10 of each, totalling perhaps 100-120 (haven’t counted them lately

). All of them are premium tubes. About the value I have fortunately no idea let alone the market value

A very modest collection if one compares to some of the "black holes" in the tube enthusiasts´ community

I hope they will step forward in this thread to be admired, envied and hated

I don’t feel I have the peace of mind to enjoy the rolling fully at the moment, and I’m focusing on building a life-time stock of the favourites. Almost there!

LOL, when I bought my HP-4 I also bought Hirsch's collection of tubes for it. If you know Hirsch, you'll realize how many tubes that is, in fact, I have more tubes than you do and that's just for the HP-4!

I've got 4 Brimar 12AX7s, 1 Mullard ECC83, and 2 Amperex EL84s. Not really a "collection" at all, but I intend to use them all shortly.

They're all for guitar amps (for now) but I think I just decided to buy a MAD Ear+ Purist for my Grado 225s. It will be fun to build the thing, too!

I've probably got 80-100 12sn7 tubes: RCA (clear glass and gray glass) Ken Rad (1), Tung Sol (clear glass; gray glass; round plate, black glass; tall bottle), Sylvania, and CBS Hytrons. I also have 13 12sx7s.

It's a pretty good collection, but really wish I could find some National Union and more Ken Rads.

A very conservative estimate of auido related tubes:

500+ 6DJ8/6922/7308/ECC88/E88CC/E188CC/CCa type of tubes.
150+ 12AU7/12AT7/12AX7
80+ EL84/6BQ5/7189A

Assortment of other tubes used in old radios.

Got crazy about 6-7 years ago and started collecting them from eBay and local electronic warehouses. I am glad I did as the price of NOS tubes keep going up, and almost all of these local warehouses have vanished. Also bought a nice size collection from a retired HP engineer!

I don't have even remotely as many as folks here, but what I do have is a high number of the premium tubes to run my equipement. Enough to last my life-time. If I ever have the opportunity to buy an HP4, I am going to have to come to you gpalmer, seriously I would love to know what to roll in to tailor the sound just right.

The only problem is it's so subjective. The HP-4 is neat to tube roll though since you can mix n' match the output and driver tubes. In spite of the fact that it is supposed to be designed so that tube rolling differences are minimized, the reality is they can sure change the sound big time. And strangely enough, the SovTeks that ship with it are probably the worst I've heard so far...
