My W5000 hava an amazing soundstage and resolution with the HA5000, but the sound just isn't quite what I want. I would like something a little less "bright" and digital sounding.

Has anyone paired a nice tube amp with the W5000s?

Since I've been listening to this combo for almost a year, I can definitely vouch for their pairing.

As good as I think the W5000's are, I find them a little "lean" sounding due to the W5000's "loosing" the leading edges of notes, and the dynamic decay of notes, which caused me to let them pass by.

But they almost convinced me to let them stay on my Yamamoto HA-02, despite the above lack ...

I love the W5000's on my Singlepower Extreme Platinum. The Extreme's high-current output tubes (primarily 6080 and 6as7) are just what the low-impedence Audio-Technicas need. So far the Extreme has bested the GS-1 and Opera in my W5000 comparisons -- although I like both of those amps very much -- wonderful body and a very intimate midrange.
