I think this T2-E is so wonderful being a triple drives hybrid with beryllium woofer that it deserve a thread of it own. I was a fan of the TTPOD T2. I was not too excited seeing the E version as my T2 had some improvements over the mods that I did. I thought, oh what the hell, what can it improve ?

Anyways, it had been a few months, and in this addictions....I want to see how the E improved, but had no reason too. Luckily, my youngest nephew came visit me, and asked about IEMS...so I payed out 3 pairs for him with my ZX2 and high res collection of tracks. IM-04, FX-750, TTPOD T2, the 3 all times favorite of mine.

Guess what ? He brighten up, and asked if he could keep the T2. I broke out LOL....heck yes....I went and ordered T2-E right away.

Today it has arrived, and after a couple hours of idle run, I tried it on and......God damn, I freaking love this thing. Mainly the bass here, where as in T2 out of the box it left me craving for more bass that I went and vents mod it, and still craving for sub-bass, textures, details. T2-E out of the box bass was "God-damn!" I said and a huge grin happened :D...followed by goose bumps....

Anyways, I will give a more detailed reviews soon.

Improved woofer casing design aimed toward more bass and quality. Multiple vents ( 8) in the woofer casing can be seen clearly. Beryllium instead of titanium.

So, this is more of an basshead IEM than neutral/natural sound signature? I see Jekostas mention T2E being V-shaped sound signature, quite sibilant, lacking details and bass oriented in his review... true? http://www.head-fi.org/products/ttpod-t2-e-3driver-hybrid-2ba-dynamic-hybrid-drive-ed-29689-ta7801-headphones-gray/reviews/13578#comments-title

Not at all a bass head IEMS. It is not U shaped either. It appears to be slightly on the flat and more neutral side. Lacking details ? Lacking bass details ? Nope, nope. I will let it burn in for a bit before I review it, but so far it is an improved version of the T2.

After 120 hours the soundstage appears noticeable wider. Here is the review for T2-E on IPad Air 2 and stream YouTube.

http://youtu.be/fetqAoVYUfc

The resolution or level of details retrieved was excellent. The resonance of the Hall effect, the sub-bass and rumbles from the drum kick, the different sizes of cymbals hits, and the staging from the left to the right were all so well defined. Of course on top of that, Adele was always right in the front, and middle of the stage with fully disclosed vocals. The level of vocal displayed like this is un-real. The transient details from whenever the singer switch chords could clearly be heard, and this is the moment where it is the most emotional and express the feeling of a song, the lyrics, the soul of it. Ever had that goose bumps feeling ? the feeling of satisfaction !

http://youtu.be/7PCkvCPvDXk

All about that bass ? Not exactly no trebles....lol. Anyways, the different tonality of each bass beats can clearly be heard and differentiate, the beautifully defined trebles synced in while having the voice of Meghan right at you. The resonances after each bass hits are also very well presenting. The sub-bass may be not at the level of bass-head level as much as FX series from JVC, but if you are looking for well defined bass with quantity and quality. Yupe!

Now you are really onto testing that bass with this pair ?

http://youtu.be/iEe_eraFWWs

My humps

Yes, it dive down, deep, but does not linger on, bloated, or bleeds into other spectrums. Vocals is beautiful again ! That detailed highs....oooohhh

Meets me halfway

http://youtu.be/I7HahVwYpwo

Again, that quality sub bass, main bass body, and well synced trebles

http://youtu.be/9bZkp7q19f0

Remember that gang nam style ? I never really thought their bass would be quiet this addicting. It is because the pure fact that it beats down, rumbles spread around, then centralized and stop.

The bass level gets even better than IM-04 that I have, because Im-04 doesn't quiet have that defined sub-bass rumbles and tonality like it either.

String instruments ? Let's say mono chord

http://youtu.be/530L63hBuBM

Yet, guzheng will sounds so good, the flute is sexy and excellent. This is what I call the most beautiful mid spectrums.

I had witnessed and listen to both guzheng and flute in real life without amplifications and speakers.....just raw plays, I can tell that the T2E displayed it very closely to the real things but leaning a bit bright tonality wise.

So, we got those bass, vocals, Mids. Let's move onto the next highs spectrum.

Burn it down. Now if every highs notes, and hits doesn't come out fully to play, subtles transient trebles is not there, then I don't know what else. I am trebles sensitives, so I can not really enjoy rock at this level of detailed highs to analyze much. I can only say as much details and defined it is, it rarely get to be sibilant....but bright....yes it is bright!

So all in all, when listening though my IPad Air 2, I will keep my original reviews as of what T2-E is capable at.

Again, for $89.99 ? In my personal opinion, it can not be beat at this pricing bracket. If you really want to hear quality audio in your music , and similar to my taste (details, realistically tonality, flat/neutral kind of guy?) On the edge of looking for something ? And willing to experiment new IEMS ? You owe to yourself a favor of trying this pair out.

Conclusion, I freaking love this dang pair.

So I have had these for quite a while now, probably since about September of last year after following the T2 thread front to back. They said the T2 was mid oriented and lacked bass, so I thought what could it hurt to go for the T2E? I have the T1E and thought that it was very very amazing for the price and I prefer it over both my XBA-3 AND my EPH-100SL (authentic) so I expected the T2E to be similar and just as amazing. When i got the T2E i thought it was fairly competent and very good. I even used it for a month as my work IEM and left my T1Es in the dust, however thats not the end of the story. after I started to acquire a few other IEMs and headphones I listened to the T2Es and I realized one thing. The T2Es were extremely dark and muffled. I burned these in for 10 hours a day for a week, then used them 9 hours a day for a month (minus weekends) and that is my conclusion.

I then stopped using the T2Es but I liked how they looked so I didnt sell them, and I just recently decided to give them a chance again. I figured maybe I got a busted unit so i ordered another one on amazon, same color, as well as a pair of T2s so that I could compare. I tried the T2s first. Uh oh. They were very warm very bassy, but in a bad way. I love warmth in a headphone, but these were congested and had a huge bloated mid-bass hump that destroyed the midrange. The second pair of T2Es sounded very good, warm, a little dark, but more balanced than my original T2Es. Or so I thought. I kept A/Bing them with my first T2Es from the very beginning and they sounded completely different. Bass was controlled, although it wasnt clear and sounded a bit distorted, yet i was so thrilled that the bass wasnt bloated that i kept using them. The T2Es were good after all! my other one was a default pair!.... not. After a couple days i A/Bed them again and it turns out the T2Es (#2) just needed to burn in, because now the bass was on par with the first T2Es. Color me disappointed.

TLDR: T2E Is dark, NOT bloated. Has clean yet VERY strong and impactful and full textured bass that doesnt muffle the mids, and extends very deep. Mids are extremely recessed, but are clear, Treble is extremely recessed, not sibilant, and also clear. This IS a basshead IEM and has a sound signature very similar to my Sony XB950BT, but clear and without the "inside-a-cave- feel".

Also, on all three of my T2 series IEMS the build quality is very good except for the right side, which has offset unmatching seams (all three) which are sharp and poke and scratch the inside of my ears. It's also finicky to fit into the ears and the "right way" and the most comfortable position to wear them makes them stick out weird.

Oh, so the T2s are dark and muffled? That is your conclusion?

Wait, so which is the truth? Are they muffled, or are they strong, clear and impactful?

Throughout my experience with my T2e's from the beginning to end I have gone through a significant number of iems and headphones within that period. I will have to say that my earlier post about them sounding good are naive. They are dark and muffled. I even bought a second pair to compare, as well as buying the a pair of the normal T2s (which i have since returned) because I really wanted to like them.. but they do not hold up. there are much better iems to be had. Id suggest the eph100 (beware of fakes) or even the T1e(beware of channel imbalance) as those constantly impress me at their price points. honorable mentions to GR07 (non classic edition) and the Vsd3s. Sorry to break it to you. I hope that helps!

It is not a problem for me, since I just received my New VSD5S earbuds today, and I am busy breaking them in. I have seen from more than one person that the T2-Es are inferior to the VSD5S, so I suppose I am good to go with what I have now.

Edit: Well, my second pair of VSD5S buds broke in the exact same way: The right ear-bud went out.

This is the only set of earbuds in this price range with this "hearing aid" style that I like, so I've decided to go with these instead. Here's hoping they're as good as Whitigir says.
