so, I made a bantamDAC a while back.

I had but the C16 resistor in the wrong place. the place that would be used for the other voltage regulators.

anyway, I finally was able to remove C16 and put it in it's correct spot.
but.. the device still doesn't work

IC1 measures 3.3V and the DAC doesn't show up.
Also, IC2 measures .75..

The website says that if IC1 is 3.3V it should show up..

what could be the issue?
I was definitely rather careless when I did the project. I had left my tweezers back at university, and I was too impatient to wait.

I plan on just starting over if I can't find the problem, but I figured that I would give fixing it a shot.

Maybe learn a thing or two.

You probably fried the DAC chip. I've done that once or twice on my Bantam builds. In that case you're unfortunately better off starting again - desoldering the DAC will probably cause more damage than you'd be fixing.

yeah, but I the soldering of the DAC chip went really well..
Maybe I should try reflowing it.. EDIT:wow thats harder to do with everything in the way.

If anyone else has any other ideas, I'd appreciate them.

I've done maybe 5 SMD projects now including a bantam DAC and I've had non functioning boards at least 3 times but every time I fixed it by reflowing everything, especially the surface mount chips. I wouldn't replace the chip without reflowing it all a few times.

Well, you're correct that if the 3.3V is OK and the DAC chip is OK, then the PC should recognize it. However, if you really measured only 0.75 for IC2, then there are more problems going on, unfortunately. Maybe a pic or two?
