Hello!
I'm new and would appreciate some advice
I have been using a set of Triple Fis for a year + now and they have been very nice.
Of late I find the (stock) cable tends to press on my ears painfully after an hour or so but unfortunately I'm not at leisure to simply take them off as my band (non-professional) is entirely hooked up via IEM. The average session is 2 hours
I've tried the JH16 (Universal demo version) and find that the sound, while certainly nicer, is not SO MUCH nicer that it blows me away at once. In fact, apart from the much heavier bass, the sound signature is fairly similar to my Triple Fi (No surprise there, since the much-respected JH designed the Triple Fi back then). One has to be sitting down and actually listening to the music with rapt attention in order to appreciate the difference.
My question is:
1. Is the custom fit version of the JH16 that much better than the Demo version? In terms of clarity and width of soundstage?
2. Given my initial impressions (albeit with the demo JH16), do you folks think that changing my stock Triple Fi cables to the Silver Ray (previously Chris Himself) will meet my needs with regards to comfort and possibly, improve on the Triple Fi?
(Yes, Moon Audio Silver Dragon cables would probably blow the Silver Rays out of the water, as would TWAGs, but I have issues paying more for my cables than I actually did for my IEMs!)
Thanks for your opinions!
