I think he said earlier that it is supposed to be closer to a U shape.

I never liked V-shaped = Bass and highs emphasis, mids recessed in comparison. V is never realistic real world sounding. U is more real world sounding to me.

I dont mind U as long as its "fun" and mid and sub bass is strong.
Not bassy that it bleeds mids but enough to drive psy trance music.

Leaning towards the Cayin i5 now, any suggestion or comments on this combo are welcome. 

 
I received the i5 yesterday on the USA tour and if the PM4 comes this week, I can provide an impression of the combo. But from what I've heard with i5 so far, it's one outstanding device with an amazing, pleasing, sound signature. It has good extension in bass, the vocals are perfect and the highs have sparkle. No fatigue. Very black background. Even Vibro Aria that has a slight V shaped signature sounds very good. With that as a reference, I can hazard a guess that PM4 will play well with Cayin i5.
 
The drums sound very natural, with impact, texture and quality. And at $470 at PenonAudio, it is a damn good buy. Cayin i5 is based on Android and 3rd party apps can be installed. Cayin has definitely hit this out of the park for sure.
