Seeing people ordering an Icarus III and getting it the next day (UK) since they are in stock but not seeing mine yet (pre-order in march) --> I've asked Kieran where mine is..hopefully on my doorstep when I get home

Many thanks to Jake, from Trinity for sending me some replacement tuning filters for my Phantom Masters. Despite being purchased off of a Head-Fier, they still honoured replacing some faulty filters.

it really may be bobs best tuning in that price range

Thanks to your impressions I splurged on the Icarus III... These will keep me company till my (maybe never) PM6 arrives.

Having said all of this, curious whether the Miko, IamMe or remiam7 or any of you have used the chinese FLC 8 IEM, since it has been reported as superior in terms of the clarity, and has 36 tuning options with the built in screw(s) system. Sounds really convenient to be able to tweak the sound on the go, but still, nowhere near the rebated prices of the Master and Icarus III

FLC8s?... "Choo, choo!"... Just another passing Head-fi hype train... I had them for a while, & if you have the Icarus III you're not really missing out imo. Strictly from memory, they're of comparable sound quality - perhaps over all a touch warmer & smoother than the IcIII. The cable on the FLC8s is a particularly nasty, cheap-feeling affair too.

Most of all though, don't go thinking the FLC8 filters are ideal for on-the-go tweaking - they're unbelievably small & fiddly to use, & trying to do so on the move would be a guarantee of losing one - or more likely, many - of them.

What? A response in minutes! I've been waiting for a response (re: my Atlas Deltas w/ prepaid BT Lanyard replacements) since July 31st and NOTHING!

Will try again... and the Icarus 3 (being a slightly better fit for my ears) would seem to be a better choice for replacement... Thanks.

Well. We will see. I got the reply in minutes. But I haven't gotten a shipping notification yet, and my order status is the same on the website.

Interesting... two headfiers on this thread were quiet unequivocal in their view of FLC8 being superior in terms of clarity to Master IEM, in two almost subsequent posts a while ago.

Very interesting information in the entire post, and contrast in view, and nice, detailed info. on usability and other practical considerations regarding the FLC8.

I do prefer colder sound signature anyway, as opposed to warmer, so to speak, so quite happy with what I've got (Masters)....
And really unsettled, at the same time, by reading that people who ordered now the Icarus III are getting those shipped the next day, while someone here who preordered in march, and me preordering in april cannot get even the status update on our preorders of Icarus III, not to mention the shipping.

I have remained the customer of the Trinity Audio nevertheless, and am happy with the Master IEM, which IMO was a steal for the rebated price.

as can be seen, I am fairly new to this group. I ordered two pairs of Airs through KS, then doubled down on Icarus 4 and Icarus 2 sight unseen based on the (former) stellar reputation these guys had

anyway, i have been looking around for detail on Icarus 1, their supposed first DAC amp, and can't find anything about it, other than a "coming soon' on the website. I guess that is more reliable than the August 2017 on the Icarus 2 page

does anyone have one of these players? know the specs, anything? there aren't even photos. Seems weird they would release the 2 having not delivered on the 1 (oh, wait, its TAE we are talking about)

Since the pic in the link below is the CAD early drawing, I do not consider it to be a relliable source, but still would like to have exactly this "crude" and simple DAP. No Android OS, display or large size, just small, robust, reliable unit with a lot of memory and an expansion slot for SD/Micro SD, and with sound quality to match the Trinity IEMs.

All that these remarks tell me about filters is how differently we all hear in the first place and why the key word is subjectivity. I also have the FLC8s and A4's but for Masters (Extremely detailed and analytical) which translates to me as way to treble/mid happy (where the music is) and too hot for many peoples ears, also mentioned on here they do with this sound signature sound incredible at low volumes (actually sleep in mine sometimes) as opposed to the warmer more musical Icarus III but mind you with certain filters these two can get close. Now when I say we hear differently my filter choice for my Masters are green with Auvio tips and on my Icy III's I run the black nozzle Trinity's jumbo bi-flanger's. I've been a long time fan of Bob's work and have 9 pair of his iem's, Miko 7 is absolutely right with Bob's discount offerings every pair I have are well worth those discounted prices (if not in build and materials alone). But like a certain orifice on our body's everyone has a different opinion so take my $.02 with a grain of salt:wink:

Dammit @Podster, your pic makes me want to change my Master screws to the extra set of black screws that came with my Icarus III's, lol.

THX OD04, going to have to go back and re-take this shot now:rolling_eyes:

I did manage to take this one after I changed screws:yum:

Man that thing is ugly

great quotes on that page from the czechs!, and that was back in January

Is there any other brand in the audio that sells so many headphones without really selling anything?

It looks like a television controller for a retiree. Only to die with the speed with which Trinity sends their products
