Speaking of repair jobs, can anyone tell me how the Hunter shells are fixed together?
Bob sent me a demo/prototype Hunter a while back. They only came with gunmetal filters.
I've tried using other filters from Master (and now some they sent me specially), but I've found there's something up with the hole/screw thread on the right hand side.
The original gunmetal filter (one of them) fits, but every other filter I can just push into the hole and pull out without any resistance.
The other one is fine.
So it's pretty clear that it just needs a replacement shell on the right hand side. And not even a whole shell, just the part with the hole for the filter.
So I'm wondering whether to send them back (then I might never receive them again, or it might take months), or just ask for the replacement shell half (gunmetal).
Because of this filter issue, I've never really had a chance to test them.
Also, I'm not sure whether the tuning is off too?
They are clear enough, but not quite as detailed as I remember, nor with the special indefineable quality I heard on a different demo unit at CanJam.
Finally, the soundstage seems a bit closed in.
But then, I have little basis for comparison other than a half-remembered listen to a prototype 1 year ago
And the only IEM I have to realistically compare them to costs 3-4 times the price, so it's not really fair or indicative.
All feedback welcome.
Am going to be at the London CanJam this month by the way.
I'll be manning the iBasso stall.
Feel free to drop by and say hi if you're there, and if anyone coming has a fully-working pair of Hunter, would love it if you could let me compare with mine! (I have many of my own tips)
