Hi,
I am getting ready to build up a dynamic on a V2 board I got from Justin (back when he sold boards), and had a question regarding the transformer. The Amveco recommended (TE62074) is rated at dual 18V secondaries, 1.944A (35VA tranformer). Digikey has these backordered until February (Justin must be busy
).
I have always heard that Plitron's are good. Would a 50VA Plitron with dual 117V primaries and dual secondaries at
027014201 18V 18V 1.39A
be a good substitution? The original tranformer in the headwize article was 36V 1A per secondary. Or, should I go with an 80VA unit with 18V 2.22A secondaries?
One other option is a little radio shop in NYC (Leeds) has a 225VA Plitron for $30, but it is 18V 6+A secondaries, and is kinda large. Would I need to go with larger spec'd rectifiers with this one, or is the current determined by the device (amp)?
Excuse the newbie type questions, but this is the first PSU I've done.
Thanks,
Chris
[EDIT] fixed part number
