Does anyone know if this is possible, and can be done cheaply? Basically, allow for someone to plug in their usb flash drives
into a device, with a 3.5mm jack, and output sound?

Thanks!

No.  A USB FLASH drive contains a file system to be read by a computer. The best thing to play music from FLASH files is a portable music player, not a computer.

Actually, several years ago, Sony fashioned a number of their mp3 players into USB drives.  It was an appearance and size thing, only, though - they were still mp3 players.

There is no reason that an MP3 player could not have the ability to access the files on a USB drive.

It may be difficult to market, impractical to implement, or both!

What advantage/improvement do you hope to achieve VS "internal" memory through this effort?
