Okay so I got some Beats Studios back when they came out... yes yes I know there trash but they were cool for a year or two and they definitely didn't sound bad to my ears.  However, I'm selling them and upgrading because after researching for two minutes it's obvious Beats are not the ultimatum of headphones, contrary to what they advertise... haha.

I'm obsessed with high quality/clean/clear audio and have been for awhile now.  I don't know if that makes me an audiophile but I'd like to call myself one... I know I can't do that wearing Beats so I'm here to change that.

Here's some guidelines for what I'm looking for so I can narrow down everyone's suggestions.
In order of importance

1. Clean and Accurate Sound Quality (I listen to all sorts of music but alot of dubstep lately) - I like bass alot but I do not want to sacrifice the overall sound quality for more bass.
2. Comfortable - the Beats are excellent IMO when it comes to comfort so something on par with them would be fine
3. Portable - this isn't the most important but I wouldn't mind being able to take them onto campus and listen to them in the Student Center or something while I study (college campus)

Uses: I listen to music alot (surprise surprise), watch videos on my mac, and play games D3, SC2, ventrillo, etc

Max Price: Probably $250 or so but price is not a show stopper.  I always try to get the most bang for the buck no matter the price.

Point 1 is BY FAR the most important thing to me although after reading it again, it sounds a bit vague.  The whole post seems some what vague but I don't really know that much about high quality audio so its hard for me to be super detailed.  I am very new to all of this but willing to listen and learn.

I ALMOST bought the ATH-M50's in white off Amazon tonight but decided to post here and see what people have to say first.  These seem to be EXTREMELY popular and may be what I end up getting.

I am open to any suggestions but please give at least a small explanation as to why you suggest them for me.

Thanks everyone :)

P.S. - the more suggestions the better so feel free to suggest multiple headphones.  I will research and read reviews of pretty much anything that is suggested.

welcome here, if you have a chance, go try out a pair of beyerdynamic dt770 or dt990. i have the dt990, i like it, it should fit what you want in sound, clear and has enough bass (at least for me, does not have as much bass as the beats though) but its an open headphone which means it has poor noise isolation and will leak sound, so its not portable. dt770 is closed, so thats your option if you are going to use it for portable. i have not heard the dt770 but judging from dt990, i think it will sound very good too. i have heard good things about it over here. and audio technica m50 is also a very popular headphone over here but i think the dt series from beyer may be a notch up in terms of sound quality... con about the dt series from beyer is that their cables are all nondetachable (a con for portability, shouldnt be a worry if use at home only) but pro is they are all made in germany (if you really care about where the headphone is made). good luck picking...
