Well, the subject says it all. Right now I have HD570s which I stumbled upon a few years ago, and haven't been totally dissatisfied with them. Are these bright like the HD590 supposedly is, or do the 570's have rolled off highs? I really can't tell since I haven't heard anything better yet.

Anyway, I'm torn between HD600 + cardas, CD3k, or waiting for HD650. From the general look of things, the CD3k is better than the HD600, but there are a few things I don't like, mainly the look and the fact it does not stay on your head well while moving(according to reviews). I'm curious to as how the HD650's will perform also, but I don't know if I'll be able to hold out until they show up. I'm using a revo 7.1 coax out to a denon 3803 receiver that seems to have a pretty good headphone jack, at least it sounds better than using analog output to a cmoy that I built.

well I just sold my Cd-3000, I still own the HD600/cardas, and I will buy the HD650 when it comes out. Selling the Sony's over the senn's was because I had less money into them and I knew they would sell faster right now(they're hot now). The sonys are a little cheaper than the senn's/cardas. The 650 is coming out pretty soon why not wait a few months and see how the 3 stack up against each other. As far as better. I think markl used a rec. like yours with the sony's and liked them alot. They are more fun to listen to than the senn's most of the time.

I have the CD3000 and the HD600/Cardas cable and I would recommend the CD3000. In my system, the Sony is more detailed, provides a better sense of space, tighter bass and definitely has more slam and dynamics. The Cardas cable helped the 600 a lot, but I still like the 3K better. However, if you like to break dance while you listen, the Sony won't stay on your head while you're doing so.

You would be crazy to wear the CD3000 at work unless you work alone. You will look like a total freak with those ginormous cans on your head.

My vote (fwiw) is none of the above. Order a pair of DT880s and wait for the dust to clear around the HD650/700/etc. Also consider a DT880 + Corda amp package. Huge bang for the buck.

I am guilty of complaining about the stability of the CD3000. They moved all over the place on me, and their sound is very position sensitive. They would have driven me to violence at work. I do not have a large head, so that may be a factor.

Good luck!

The Cd-3000 are definitly not the headphone to own if your going to be moving around alot or bending over while listening to music. When I first got mine I thought the band needed replaced until I found out they all fit loose. My head is small though.

It also depends on how much you want work to intrude into your music and vice versa. The CD3K would be a nice balance. I haven't had the DT880 to compare unfortunately.

Gerg is right... The smaller the head, the more likely it is to be staring into an earcup if you move too suddenly

If your head is on the large side, they will sit nicely. If it's titanic like mine where the headband sits squarely across the top of your head, it's a less nice experience.

I vote for the CD3000 (as usual), maybe you will look like a freak, but IMO I preffer to look like a freak, and enjoy to what I was listening, that look nicer hating the sound (or at least liking it less) .....just my two cents....the look in audio is most of the times secundary, mostly the good stuff look horrible....even when I agree that the manufacturers could combine both things, in a nice finished, and good product, but this is a thing out of our hands.....

I have had both...Senn600s (with stock and Cardas) and CD3Ks. I love the Senn sound but I find the CD3Ks to work in more applications for me...music, DVDs, MP3 plater, etc.

One thing I love about the Sonys is that they do not need to be modded to sound their best. No need to add an aftermarket cable or rip out driver covers. They are complete and need no tampering. They also are very efficient work great out of just about any source.

That being said...when are those Senn 650s due out?
