Yes, as my original post states. I'm going to try uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it to see if I missed a setting.
Download the one from topping. I too previously have an issue when I tried to install Asio Driver but with the Topping Asio Driver it works like charm.

Edit: Sorry I did not notice the one you link was already from topping. Can you provide screenshot of the output setting from your foobar?

I uninstalled everything from Topping and reinstalled the Topping ASIO driver. Now I can play DSD 64/128/256 without difficulty (I have no 512 files). I think I must have missed a step when I installed the ASIO driver into Foobar2000 last week.

Has anyone compared the D50 to the D50s?

My D50 is in my desktop system and has been running perfectly for a good while and I'm really happy with the sound quality. However, the D50s with its Bluetooth LDAC support could solve a problem for me in one of my other audio systems where I need an LDAC input and a good quality digital coaxial S/PDIF output.

I bought an a50s and a p50 and I'm waiting for the d50s but I have some doubts, the a50s is a good amplifier but if I connect it to the p50 the sound becomes clean but sterile lacking depth is not exciting.
Why do you think you tried a50s and p50?
impressions?

Hi guys. I got a problem with my digital setup (computer + dac) and I think my D50 was ruined. I tried turn on my computer (it uses a ATX psu stil but I was about to change it for a linear one) and the computer didn't turn on actually. After some minutes I noted the atx psu was too hot. I removed the psu cable and tried after some minutes, with sucess, but the D50 feeded through computer USB didn't turn on. I found out the USB from DAC and USB 2.0 ports from computer was ruined!! The computer work but the D50 can only turn on using a 3A cell phone recharger and won't work on battery bank (with 2A), besided that it get TOO hot!! Was any capacitor/resistor or regulator damaged?? I will opne the case too check inside as soon. I hope recover my unit, if posssible as the coxial and optical port and display still work normally. I think some over voltage caused this.

25 va aren't too many?

No. The voltage requirement on my D50 is 5V. The current requirement is around 1A. That’s around 5W of power requirement. The D50 will draw the power that it needs from the power supply provided that the power supply outputs 5V DC and can supply a current of at least 1A.

The D50s is likely to be similar in terms of power requirements.

I use an iFi .. https://www.amazon.com/iPower-Supply-International-Travel-Adapters/dp/B01GNNXP0Y/

It might be overkill, because the D50 should have a fairly good power filter, but it seems like a reasonable investment since the DAC is the first analog stage. I've also seen various tests of the cheap USB power supplies over the years, and many of them are pretty bad (sometimes even awful), so even though the iFi isn't perfect, it's really good. The alternative if you have to grab something is to use an Apple USB power supply (e.g. came with an iPhone or iPad), because their test results have always been predictably good -- again, not perfect, but good enough for most things.

I did try an iFI iPower and an iPhone (and iPad) power supply. I settled on an LPS eventually.
