Sorry for the stupid title, but I have been looking at a few forums on the Internet and was shocked at how many posts some of the people have. There are some people on those boards with 200 to 300 posts per day.

I thought some of the people on this board posted a lot, but they don't even compare to some of these people. Anybody else been on other forums and were shocked by the amount of posts some people have?

You have time for other forums?

I used to be into BBSs, then WWIV-net, then FidoNet, then usenet. I can't say that any amount of posts or any kind of content can truly surprise me.

Luckily, I have not become a member of those forums and only view them occasionally or I would be spending a lot more time on the Internet then I do now; which is too long as it is.

RVD please provide linkage. The heaviest posters I personally knew were those on various gaming boards, with counts of 16-18 thousand per board. But at 200 posts per day, you would easily break 60,000 posts in just one year!

The guy with 200 posts a day has 65k posts, which a limit defined by how the software stores post count - I'm assuming the guy (being an admin) just set it as high as it goes by twiddling with the database.

65535 is also the number of ports on a computer with an internet connection. coincidence? yeah.. sure.

I'm somewhat inclined to agree....

65535 is the highest positive integer that can be stored in two bytes (half of that if you use signed integers). It is a rather common limit in software, especially older 16 bit software (a heritage from Bill Gates DOS and the stupid pre-NT and pre-W2000 Windows version).
With more modern software the guy could have over four billion posts!

Anders...

The number you mention... 4,294,836,225 should only be 32 bit... for higher end applications that use 64 bit... that number would be 18,445,618,199,572,250,625... and 128 bit (heck, might as well do this for internet explorer encryption techniques) would be 340,240,830,764,391,036,687,105,719,527,810,000,00 0!! (Wowzers!! that number is so huge that VBulletin doesn't appear to display it correctly... even on a desktop size of 1280x1024!!)

And i'd like to see anyone get that many posts!!

(reffering to my internet explorer reference, that'd mean touch wood that 128 bit encryption with that many variables, would be quite hard to crack!)
