I took this pic with most of the protective plastic covers off the vinyl which allows the album names to be shown when the pic is zoomed in upon. So here goes, here is my little collection of musical gems of vinyl. I hope you can read them. Although I have 100 times as much music on cd, I recently started collecting vinyl and wow, do I value it much more!

That is a great start to your vinyl collection! Good work. Are you buying those Impluse! records new or used/vintage? I am curious whether there are any real differences in SQ between old and new.

Nice.

You know, vinyl holds no practical appeal for me in terms of space, expense, time & effort, etc. I got rid of my records a long time ago, and now have a pretty decent digital source. But gosh-darn-it, I'm inexplicably drawn to get a turntable again (and have been for a while now)! They look so damn sexy, and seeing people's vinyl collections like yours brings me back to a time when my music looked something like that (not necessarily the content though). There's something inexplicable about it.

Must..resist...

I've never compared the same Impulse! vinyl recording in different editions, but I've been very pleased with the SQ of the ones that came out in, I think, the late 90s. My older Impulses sound seem to have more compression.

I was never able to part with my extensive vinyl collection, mostly from the late 60's through the 70's and early 80's, even though I leapt onto the digital bandwagon when "they" told us what a superior sound ditgital was.

I finally bought a good turntable last year and now get to enjoy both vinyl and digital audio. Audio bliss, IMHO.

I buy them used, but occasionally find one that is still in original plastic wrap. I didn't know Impulse made new vinyl... now I'm interested.
