To choose between Audio Technica A500 or Sony V6 for my IPod???

If you saw the A500 in a shop I presume you're in HK or Japan. The 7506 would be your alternative as far as the V6 sound is concerned. I've never tried the MDR-CD900ST (an identical looking phone but by all accounts differnt sounding) but if they have that out in the shop, perhaps it's worth a try. The V6/7506/CD900ST can be thrown around with a fairly high degree of impunity. It only takes one fall onto your bag to crunch the A-series. And as you've noticed, that's before we even get to their relative sizes.

There was a custom white CD900ST which would have had the iPoders drooling. Unfortunately it looks like they aren't made any more.

niooo, based on the experiences of people here, it seems that the MDR-7506 is exactly the same headphone as the MDR-V6, just a little more expensive and with a gold-plated plug (which makes no real difference). The V600 is a completely different, and somewhat inferior headphone. It's not well-liked here, and after listening to both the 7506 and the V600 myself, I agree that the V600 is not nearly as good.

I have the V6 and had the PX200s. The V6s isolate much better. Don't expect much isolation at all from the PX200s because of the small size.

Soundwise, I personally think there is no comparison between the V6s and PX200s. The V6 sound much better to my ears, although the PX200s are okay for portables.

Does anyone recommend the ms-1 cans from Alessandro. They suit this guys budget and portable use. I haven't heard them myself but you probably have!

cheers,

Although I have never heard the ATH-500s, I do like my V6s very much. They are very good out of my iPod, and I think they can take a good bit of mutilating.

However, I am going to place an order on the Ety ER-4Ps in a few minutes.
