Does anyone have any experiences with this phone?

Just wondering as I am looking at it, trying to convince myself that an iphone isn't the best way forward.

Is the battery life really as poor as people say it is?

Any opinions would be appreciated.

had mine about 3 months. prior phones have been nokia e61i, blackberry 8700, mwg atom life.....

t-mobile's 3g service (chicago) is very fast, the phone is almost glitch-free, and very simple/intuitive to use.

i love it.

How is the battery consumption in your opinion?

I need mine to last 10 hours of medium usage. Frequent email and SMS + some internet browsing.

A friend of mine has one and it's pretty cool. Battery life however is not, and depending what you use the phone for, your battery could be dead by the end of the day. T-Mobile did send my friend another battery though free of charge, which he uses to swap out the dead one if needed. I believe there is also a different battery you can buy with a longer life.

FWIW, the G2 is expected later this year along with at least one other Android phone that T-Mobile will carry.

The G1 is a pretty bulky phone, in my opinion. Have you used one already?

My friend has a G1. The black is quite an ugly phone, but they're available in white now. Battery life seems to be poor according to her. She carries two batteries with her when she goes to class LOL.

I think poor battery life is more of an issue of a 3G phone. If you're really concerned about battery life, it would be best to go with a non 3G phone.
