See, as much as I like my Apple In-Ear Headphone, one thing that bugged me was I couldn't get it to fit properly in my ear with different tips.
Whilst doing the daily read on Head-fi I came across this rather plain post by -=Germania=- about doing ear impressions:

Open mouth, that is when your canals are at their widest/biggest.

That way, you will never loose your seal because it is already made for when your ears are at their widest.

I thought I'll give this a try and see if this helps.
I'm glad to say it does!

So if your tips don't quite fit in your ear, try yawning or opening your mouth while you insert them

Great seal everytime.

I've never had problems with seals.
I can just push the canalphone in and it more or less fits.
I can never gear earbuds to sit right, though... got any tips for that?

I've never had seal problems with in-ears, but that's probably because I've only owned the EP630s, which are known for their comfort apparently.

I'll keep this in mind when I get some new UEs or Westones sometime in the next few months

Actually having your mouth open or closed is a big deal. When I started out with IEM I did some research on ear canals, etc. When fitting custom hearing aids, there are specific instructions as whether to make the fitting with the mouth open or closed.

I find just letting my jaw go slack, which causes my mouth to open a bit. Opening my jaw wide open isn't good nor is a clenched jaw.
