There is also a new Harmon curve P1 preset in the HPtoy app that I noticed while playing today.

Got a pair of P1s coming from trades here, any tips on cables or eartips?
I know they are hard to drive and should be ok with that. Thanks.

I can highly recommend the Triton8 legacy OCC copper cable. It is available from TritonAudioCables, owned by a highly-regarded longtime Head-Fi member. That, combined with with the Spiral Dot ++ tips, to my ears, makes my P1 one of the most enjoyable IEMs I have owned.

Well, they are not really hard to drive per se', but to drive them to full potential is another story. As to cables and tips, it is going to depend on several factors. I find the Tripowin C8 works well with them, but that is on the cheaper side of cables (cable 175 is recommended, but a bit more expensive). My choice is the 4.4mm balanced, but that will depend on what you are listening to them from (I use it on the DX160 which has about 1.2Watts out of balanced and .4 output impedance, or something close to that). I also like the Final Audio Type E tips, but also find the stock tips actually fit me very well. Point is, I am a detail craver, so I like an SPC cable (not copper, but pure silver is too much), and small bore long style tips. If you need a warmer sound, or you are super treble sensitive (though they are never sibilant), go with a copper cable and/or wide bore tips. This will warm the treble a bit, and give more quantity of bass.

To give them a bit wider sound stage, I have taken a pair of older tips and cut out the core, then cut those (cores) into about 1/2 to 3/4 of their height and put them on the stem as a spacer to keep the tips out as far as possible. Works perfectly for me, but YMMV. Just keep in mind that with these the tip fitment is paramount to getting the full potential sound, moreso than any other IEM I have listened to.

I received the P1s and they aren’t that hard to drive for me and sound perfect with the white foam tips they came with. This is the sound signature I’m enjoying more and more. Stock cable and foams (just were dropped off) so the amazement continues and trial and error changes in tips etc will commence after I float with these for a few days...!

Are you using them with the DX? And you are right, they are not really hard to drive, and may sound perfect (for your ears) out of a phone jack. But if you add more power to the mix, you will get a bit bigger soundstage, better textured bass, and more detail retrieval (or in short they won't sound as flat as they do when under-driven). I would enjoy them right out of my phone had I not had the DX, and had ordered a 4.4mm balanced cable. I don't believe that the balanced connection alone makes any headphone sound better (IMO), but in this case we are talking about Orthodynamic phones, and the DX only puts out 391 milliwatts out of 3.5mm SE, but puts out 2.1 watts from the 4.4mm balanced. The concensus on this thread (and other sites I have read about these IEMs) says they really need at least 500 milliwatts to be at full potential. Enjoy! :)

I would like to hear your impressions on them after spending a couple of weeks with them consistently?!

The new Dx160 is coming Monday and I bought the new adapters with it so I can use my 2.5 balanced for the 4 etc.
I new phone yesterday so all my stuff like pictures are not all here yet but they are angled adapters with a clear portion showing the traces. I can dig up pics

DX160 came yesterday overnite from Hong Kong and I decked the P1s in a balanced copper cable with those Comply foam globes for tips.
They sound awesome using balanced output. They easily sing with this Metallic Blue unit...!

It looks like your coming out of the SE output on both pictures?! Did they flip the ports on the 20 version? On the 19 version the 4.4mm balanced port was on the bottom left, while the 3.5mm SE/LO was bottom middle.

Gratz on your new DX! Looks nice. I have the silver 19 version and still love it as much as I did the first day I got it.

The pictures are not specifically showing anything but color. The ports didn’t change .
