If we're talking about the ESW9 / ESW10JPN as the Head-Fi pick, maybe they do know a thing or two...

That is a heck of a performance recommendation, "they sound awesome", so clinical and exacting... It is interesting that they seemed have selected these because of the "built-in hi-fi mike and ControlTalk" rather than the actual or perceived sound quality. Strangely, this recommendation from Peter Ha and Time Magazine does not convince me that they are any good...

The only surprise is that it was not Bose. After all, I have never seen an ad for Monster in Time. I expected a straight up ad-placement-for-good-review transaction. I guess Time has a little more editorial integrity than, say Stereophile.
