from what i hear, beyerdynamic dt770's/880's are very good for bass. i know theres like different versions of each or something, but look into that. i personally never tried either of them, but many ppl on this forum would say those two are one of the best.

I have both the 770Pro and 990, they both do bass quite well. Some would say the 770Pro bass is a tad bloated etc, but you get used to it after awhile

The K501 have the tightest bass I've heard yet. It does however lack a little quantity, but I think no one would say it lacks tightness.

For tight fast bass with more quantity the AD2000 takes the cake though.

I have the Beyers, DT770/80 Pro, and they are basstastic - and you get really good bass control with an amp.

For the love of god, don't go near the DT770. And don't pay any attention to these guys who haven't even heard them saying that they've read they're good in posts by other people who also haven't heard them but read somewhere that they're good. They do not, repeat, do not have what you're after. In fact they're pretty awful.

You want tight, accurate, tonally smooth non bloated bass? Go planar. Ortho or stat.

If you want to stick with dynamics? Ergo 2, Goldring DR series (Dr100 is very good value), or at the cheap end, the KSC-75 all spring to mind, the Goldrings are particularly nice with a good tight bass, although perhaps a little tizzy in the mid to highs. They get much better if you pry out the stock drivers and put in some SFIs, but thats another matter.

You haven't actually given us a budget, or what kind of headphones you're after (portable earbuds, full size expensive ones etc) more information in this regard would be useful.
