thoughts on the nakamichi soundspace5?

my family is thinking of getting one, would like some opinions from people who own one or have had experience with one.

some linkage to make things easier:

right now after looking at it in a store, i can conclude that looks-wise, this is hard to beat.

however we could not really test out the sound as that particular display unit had a spoilt reading lens.

so, opinions?

The Nakamichi systems look cool, but I don't like them much in terms of (1) build quality; and (2) sound quality.

I haven't been impressed by the sound quality of Nakamichi gear, on the whole, in quite a while. It seems like a while back they decided to stop being a company dedicated to great sound (remember the Dragons?) and to start being a B&O-like style company.

Plus I always see broken Nakamichi display models, which doesn't bode well for their build quality.

I'd much rather go for a less flashy system that sounds great and is built well, like the Denon DM systems.

they look good but.......

as mcdef mentioned- i scan ebay on cd players and i see a lot or most nakamichi cd players being sold as broke or non functioning .

the only thing nakamichi i like is their mobile (car) cd palyer unit (CD45Z)
