Thoughts on Dual Sabre Dacs (NFB 7.77, LKS MH 004)

  1. smodtactical
Anyone have experience or thoughts with these dual sabre dacs that have 1 chip per channel? LKS impressions from those that own one have been pretty positive. I have not seen any impressions of the audio gd NFB 7.77 and I wonder if there are any out there.

Also how do these dacs compete against top ladder dacs like gumby, yggy, holo 3 etc.

    Thanks!

Having r2r7 and impression from a friend about 7.77. AudioGD seems to stick to their house sound signature, warmer ? There are some differences from both designs and which deterred it for me to buy lks004 and not 7.77

    1/ lks004 uses MeLF resistors

2/ lks004 has single board design, except Amanero modules

3/ lks004 is easier to work on, and have room to modify and improves.

4/ Lks004 is also slight bit cheaper, and is the first one to the market to bring ess9038Pro

5/ lks004 uses those musical Nichicon and wima capacitors on it instead of Nouver like 7.77 ?

But #2 is very very important. Less joints, and less solders to connects between parts. That does it for me

There is also the Musical Paradise MP-D2 MK2 (now out of stock for upcoming MK3).

It has a thread here (people end up buying are vinyl aficionados).

    Nice is that:
    - It has modular sockets for the dual mono DAC chips. You change to 9038PRO, AK4497 or AK4490 by dropping its modules.
-Ability to roll on its analog tube output stage by changing the rectifier (6.3V or 5V series), signal tubes (6.3V or 12.6V series) and caps to your heart's content.
    -Cheaper than your L.K.S. MH-DA004
    - Modwright has a mod for it: http://www.modwright.com/blog/post.php?s=2018-07-10-new-mod-musical-paradise-d2-dac

IDK, haven't found one. BUT, never found negatives either from users on various forums.

    Google is your friend.

There are some very detailed measurements of it over at Audiosciencereview.
