With true winter drawing on, I'm asking myself what I should have to warm my ears and keep the tunes going.

Last year, it was the Beyer DT250-80. The year before that, it was the Eggos.

The phones must be closed, portable (the more the better), comfy, stay on during running and walking (HD280-derived headband designs don't stay on well on my head, which rules out the Ultrasones / new Beyer DTXX0), truly circumaural and the pads must be wind-resistant. The Eggos weren't too successful in that regard... the wind seemed to find a way through somehow.

The 250-80's probably the best for this purpose I've come across, but it sounds underpowered when unamped and hardly isolates; so much so last year I took off the cable and wore the E5 underneath, making it somewhat counterproductive not to mention a waste of money (although very effective).

With my inventory this year the V700 is too uncomfortable, the HD25-1 is exposed as are any of my more compact phones. The ATH-ES5 which I'll have soon isn't going to solve the situation.

Any recommendations?

The Grado SR-60s with comfies are just the ticket... warm and cheap

I wouldn't risk wearing my MS-1s in inclement weather.

Though I wouldn't exactly call it portable, the DT770-80ohm can be driven by most portable gear, is circumaural (with the same luxurious earpads of the DT880/990) and attenuates noise quite well; it's a fun, bassy headphone, but it is large and doesn't fold at all (though it's durable enough to face the outside world).

If you look you can see a little pocket on the inside, you can just slide the driver into the little pocket and run the wires out the inside. Maybe remove the foam pad so that its not as muffled.

Edit: im not sure if the grips have the pockets. These are called Ear Warmers Earmuff 180s Polar Blue

I've not seen a remotely good looking pair of earmuffs to date. Sennheiser HD250 is a 300 ohm headphone with 94db SPL... I don't think so. The 770 is not portable. My head does not suit beanies; I look even more like Cartman.

Bower, where did you find those earmuffs and eargrips? Those, with KSC35s or earbuds inside, look like the way to go for me personally -- even if they aren't stylish enough for Bangra.
