So those of you who made the upgrade, did you regret the purchase? I.E. was the gain in SQ worth the price? I know that's fairly subjective, but was it a fairly marginal increase in SQ, or could I really just "get by"? I don't do any sort of critical listening or anything, so I'm thinking this may just be a head-fi infection. I just jam out on the iPod while surfin the web, most of the time.

The curiousity bug has bit me, and I'm pondering getting something custom, like UE10, etc.

I LOVE the sound sig and bass weight of my UM2's, so would it behove me to just molds made for the UM2's? Or, is there a custom IEM that has harder hitting AND more abundant bass while still being articulate with the other frequencies? Yeah...basshead who wants portability. Oxymoron I know.

Any suggestions as to what I should be fishing the amrket for?

Ooh!

I also love the sound of my um2s. My issue is that my funny ear cannals make the um2s stick out instead of laying flat. They also lose seal sometimes at the gym. Thus my interest in going custom.

Now the livewires are less of a commitment and are purported to be pretty good. Did you consider those?

I will follow with great interest.

I tried the Atrios but, as reported, the bass sort of swamps the rest (I'm sure that would improve with burn-in but I didn't think it'd smooth out far enough for my tastes). However it could suit your bass tastes?

I'm also long-term UM2 and was considering Westone 3 but all reviews are definitely sending me to Livewires.
