Thinking about Audeze LCD-2, are they comfortable?

I was reading a Lyr thread and poster after poster mentioned how they enjoy the LCD-2. Curiousity peaked so I want to know more. Look at their website and the build quality looks great.

I love Beyerdynamics because they are so comfortable and because it was my first nicer headphone of the modern era. I also have to admit I am a bit miffed that the headband of the T5p2 isn't leather, as I had read on one of Amazon's comparison spreadsheets (I think it's on the T90 product page).

Tell me other things about LCD-2, can I assume they need lots of power to drive? That shouldn't be a problem with the Lyr 2 apparently.

How is the sound signature? I like Beyer 770, 880, 1770 and to a lesser degree the T5 as it's missing a little of the bottom end. I really need to get out more, and am in a rut with this brand, it's time for something else.

LCD-2 is VERY different from DT770/880...those are bright, the 770 painfully so.They have more detail than Audeze, theyre a bit laid back, not HD600 laid back, but its quite different from what youre used to.

Where you will hear other differences is the bass on LCD-2 extends quite deep, but wont have as much thump as your 770s. The mids on LCD are much better as well.

Comfort? I kick back in my recliner and listen to all my headphones so its not an issue for me,but the DT line is more comfy and lighter.

TBH I actually prefer my HE-500s to my LCD-2,both are good but the mids on the 500 are REALLY good, and while they dont extend as far theres more thump to them on the bottom end.

Both require a good amp,but LCD is a lot easier to drive.

I have the T-90 and the LCD-2F if the T-90 comfort is 10 the LCD-2F are a 7. It's all in the weight. Monster point about kicking back is right 2 hours can fly by as long as you're not moving around the weight should not be a problem.

Thank you both for the feedback.
What is the F, is it older or is that the latest? Is that the new Fazor?
I will also look at the HE-500 more closely, those seem really good as well!

No probs but make sure your Lyr has enough umph for the HE-500,I know nothing about that amp TBH

LCD 2.1 is a strong favorite of mine. A tad dark, I use a tube amp (Decware taboo, neutral tuning) that gives dynamics and sparkling highs. I previously used a Lyr 1 but whilst it is very responsive to different tube signatures it didn't meet all the lcd 2's textural capabilities imho.

Lyr 2 might be different! Jason completely redesigned it iirc.

Some early impressions suggest Jotunheim is a high-end performer at a low price. Might be worth a listen? Am seriously considering it as my 'good enough end-game' SS amp/preamp to complement my tube amps.

Thanks you guys, I am grabbing the LCD-2F from another forum member. I also may look at the Jotenheim some day, but for now it's the LYR-2 and I am loving it with DT-1770 & T5p2.
