Anyone listen to them, like really listen? Their lyrics are hilarious. smart and creative and the music is cool. Their best albums are Lincoln, Flood, and Apollo 18. Check them out if you get a chance.

If you like TMBGs, also check out The Residents (if you haven't already). BTW, TMBGs did an album for a McSweeney issue. You play one of their songs for each story.

Yeah. I haven't met a gracious plenty who have given them a good listen.
If you like Cake I would suggest giving TMBG a try.... humorous, witty and sometimes a little snyde.... one of my favorite bands of the 80's.
Try Flood for openers.

Total nerd rock, but I still love 'em. I remember getting into them in the early 90's because Tiny Toon Adventures used two of their songs and animated little "music videos" for them. Ah, how Particle Man and Istanbul (Not Constantinople) became instant classics.

John and John are totally prolific songwriters, and there seems to be an endless amount of material that has quite a bit of variation. They are never scared to take their music and album ideas in new directions. They were one of the first to fully embrace the .mp3 format, and released an album for sale on their website by download. You can see some of their quirkiness in their website design, found at www.tmbg.com.

I must admit, I began to lose track of them after the Factory Showroom album was released, but I have a friend who also became a diehard fan after that particular Tiny Toon's episode and he has every album they've ever released... which is quite a few.

If you can swallow your pride a little when listening to them, you'll end up with some music that is able to create an instantly bouyant attitude. I believe that is part of what makes them unique -- in all the tracks I've ever heard of theirs, the mood is very light and I end up with a smile on my face after listening for just a few minutes.

. I haven't heard what they've done lately (if they have done anything) but on Cartoon Network they have a very short music video for the show, "Courage the Cowardly Dog" so they're still in the game. My favorite song so far is the song about how the sun shines on the Severe Tire Damage album. I have the single that version is a slow and simple song, I liked the more rock version on Severe Tire Damage.

I loved the one album I had by them back in 1990 or so. Not sure what the name was, but it had the song, They Might be Giants on it. Great song. My favorite line went something like, "and everyone had to cling tighter to the merry-go-round as it went faster to keep from being thrown to the wolves." A bad quote, but it has been a goo decade since I last heard that album.

EDIT - I just read Craig's post and it reminded me that the album was Flood, and I remembered Particle Man and Istanbul. Man, those guys were funny.

...that's nobody's business but the Turks....

Thats how I got into them. First my brother turned me on to Tiny Toons and then a friend in High School played a few of their albums for me and I was hooked. Lincoln is awesome!
