Wow, there's actually an ATH-L3000 for sale on eBay. The seller is asking $2550 for it. He says it's condition is 7.5 out of 10.

I wonder how long it'll be up...

Probably someone from Head-Fi. ^^

I could be wrong, but is this the guy that flips expensive headphones. Gets a good deal and then turns around and sells right away on audiogon or ebay. Saw those same pair being sold here just a short while back at a nice price due to the condition.

He's been banned from headfi for flipping. He maintains multiple accounts on audiogon, and used to have multiple identities here and other headphone forums. I'd be VERY careful doing business with him.

Hmmmm... it's legal, I guess. And of course, he should do as he likes. But is it kosher? No. Oh well. I'm not in the market for one anyway. Waaaay too expensive.

I think he bought this from an older headfier who was selling the L3000 and the matching amp for a very low price, because the guy had been out of the game, and just wanted to get back what he put into it.
Unfortunately it was this guy who jumped on the deal, and probably gave him some sob story as well to lower the price by a couple hundred bucks.
If he's selling for 2550, reckon that he paid at least 500 less than that.

It's still a good price for an L3000 though, I just wouldn't buy it from that person since he's just too slippery.

He's been trying to sell them for at least a month. I think people are starting to get wind of what he's done.

Has the seller actually defrauded anyone that we know of?

Most like them better for rock than the R10 but it's still just a matter of opinion. I've only heard the R10 for 5 minutes, so I can't really compare to my L3000. Lookswise, I'd go with the L3000. I think the R10 looks a little weird with the huge cups. The ATH W5000 looks better for wood cups.

I don't think so. He just takes advantage of people's good nature, gets a good deal and immediately turns around and sells them at a mark up.

So, obviously he's cheating people out of their gear to make money?!
