Years ago I created the ZMF Pilot Pad in order to make our T50rp mods as comfortable as they could be for those of us who don't always love the suspension strap. It's comfy and cushy, and awesome for a plethora of headphones, but didn't work perfect on some headphones. The Co-Pilot offers a different option, that will fit on wider headbands with a slightly sleeker, thinner design (but WIDE!). It also takes care of the ever important "hot-spot" problem by having cushions on each side of the head instead of in the center, while retaining cushioning throughout as well.

We'd love to hear what headphones you're using the Co-Pilot pad on!

Also releasing today, is the new Lektrik S ZMF Headphone cable. In following the same schematic as the Verite Silver and Lektrik ZMF cables, the Lektrik S can be configured with 2 strand (4 conductor) or 4 strand (8 conductor) configurations. It's a great looking cable and is perfect for those wanting a non-microphonic cable that's beautiful with a crystal clear sound.

The co-pilot will be an immediate purchase for me...improves the look of the headphones, imo.

@zach915m I ask this of any maker supplying silver-plated copper cables. What do you think of the following?

Sounds like a guy who is trying to sell really expensive cables. 😎

Our mission is to provide cables for all sorts of preferences, and our silver plated cables were designed with ergonomics and insulation in mind to sound and feel great without adding anything to the source, especially not harshness.

It’s not unsubstantiated though. NASA has actually done a study on the topic: https://ntrs.nasa.gov/archive/nasa/casi.ntrs.nasa.gov/20100009723.pdf

One of the great things about audio, is that despite measurements and scientific studies, every individual person has subjective tastes that can't always be explained through science. I spend a great deal of time making sure our products have various iterations including earpad types, and sound signitures and cable types so that there's something that appeals to each individual ZMF owner.

One of the great things I get to experience is watching people demo our gear and find what works best for their own needs, and many times people like the silver plated cables best, or one of our other cables including our pure silver verite cable. I never try to dissuade someone or push someone away from their personal experience with measurements or science, as I love the individual journey that sound is. But I do like to use data and subjective experience to design our products.

If someone believes solely in pure silver because of studies and subjective impressions too, I think that's great, and we offer pure silver cables starting at 400 usd.

If you want to continue any kind of discussion on silver cables and your needs and/or interest in our product, send me a PM or email through our website.

Hi Zach, can you briefly describe what's different between Lektrik to 2K Copper?

Great looking design on that Co-Pilot pad.

The pilot pad on the Ori is super comfy.

@zach915m is the new cable made of silver and how does it sound vs. ZMF 2K copper?

EDIT: Missed the part about it being silver plated copper.

2k copper is very euphonic and detailed with that floaty space from super micro strands, the lektrik cables move towards that sound with still strands finer than most headphone cables, but are a touch more direct sounding.

Can the co pilot be put on zmf headphones? :) Is it easy?

Yeha it absolutely works great on ZMFs, I personally prefer the lambskin strap on ZMFs but if you prefer a large pad vs suspension strap it's the perfect solution. If you I'll make a video soon on installation, you just have to remove the suspension strap and install the co-pilot with its two sided velcro.

Hi Zach, can you briefly describe what's different between Lektrik to 2K Copper?

Lektrik has dual conductors so it cana be made in 2 strand configuration to be ultra portable, and where as the 2k maximizes strands per conductor and is single conductor per wire. The the 2k has. 035 size strands where the lektrik conductors are. 05 and 08 size between the two conductors, so slightly higher resistance.

The Lektrik is really a take on the classic optimal copper headphone cable, but it where the 2k copper is a flagship cable with micro strands that is really unique and different than any headphone cables I know of.

I'm not into this expensive cable stuff, but I will admit they look wonderful. I'll leave it at that as to avoid the horrible, unproductive cable debate mired in cognitive bias. I will say that I would buy them if I was rich, for sure. They look amazing, and probably feel great too. I gotta give props to ZMF, they've done a good job with the aesthetic side of things. I always keep my Aeolus on the shelf where it can be seen, not in the box. It's too pretty to hide. I like that their stands, amps, and most cables, also follow this trend. It's a great bunch of products.

I do wish though that ZMF offered something like the OFC cable in a form that isn't as stiff, janky and bleak as the current one. OFC type of wiring in this sort of paracord or transparent sleeving, with a prettier splitter for a more reasonable price (around 100€ ish?) is something I would love to see!

I just decided I need that co-pilot pad. God it looks comfy. Gotta try it on the Aeolus too! I generally prefer a suspended strap, but damn that pad looks tempting. Maybe I'll try it on my WH-1000XM2 and see how people react!
