I was fiddling around with my X-fi and instead of using the standard headphone mode, which I have used since the first day I got it, I decided to set it to two speaker mode. In both modes no fancy options where enabled. Anyway, I noticed that speaker mode seemed to sound somewhat clearer than headphone mode.

I'm wondering, did anybody else experience this?

YEah,in the case of the Live! 24bit and the Audigy value,using 2.1 mode makes things slightly slightly clearer.

Maybe there are some processing (effects) made on Headphones output option.

Yes, and if you game I recommend that setting as well for better directional sound.
