i'm looking for more info on the x-sub, and specifically whether it would deliver a better musical experience with the X-ls as opposed to just the X-mtm towers. i'm on the verge of buying something from AV123, and this issue presented itself.

i've read the Audioholics review of the AV123 products, as well as talked with a few other people about their products, and i'm afraid the X-mtm and X-sub would be too boomy. so i'm sort of leaning towards just getting the X-ls now, and adding a sub later...unless the X-sub is worth getting (ie, musical!) along with the bookshelves. so if anyone has experience with their towers or X-sub, do tell.

I would just go over to av123 and browse the forums. There is TONS of info there about the x-sub. However, I do remember reading a thread over there where someone stated that they prefer just the x-ls to the x-ls + x-sub combo. My guess is they had something dialed in wrong, but who knows.

OTOH, most readers (after getting the MTM's setup in their house) report that they are WAY larger than they had thought. Just something to think about. I'm sure the x-ls and x-sub will look much sleeker in a room than 2 huge floorstanders. With that in mind, the shipping on the MTM's is going to be huge on the MTM's.

My suggestion, buy two X-cs (sealed enclosure, 2- 6.5's) and an x-sub. The MTM arrangement will give a more full sound and the sealed enclosure means they won't be trying to reproduce really low bass, which the x-sub will handle anyways. This setup would be 459 plus shipping.
