The world's best MP3 player.
Jun 26, 2003 at 4:44 AM Post #16 of 30
Well, there's a Bang & Olufsen store a few miles from where I live. I think I'll stop by soon to compare with my iPod for ****s n giggles.

The thing with B&O in most cases, however, is that their stuff is extremely overpriced, but look great. It's not like Bose overpriced, however, because Bose tries to con their customers into thinking that they've got the best equipment that no other company in the world can duplicate (Direct/Reflecting... What?). B&O instead just puts out their stuff that sounds decent and look great, but sound quality usually compares to units far less expensive.

For their speakers, that is.

Then please change your title and remove "world's best".

How's it like over there at your side? not just a normal audio shop right?

Roy2001

Sorry I don't know how to do that. sorry next time I won't use that word.

Cyclonite, don't worry about the comments. B&O's ... usually justifiably... get picked on a lot here.

Besides didn't we already decide what the World's Best MP3 Player was a few months ago?

who cares. mp3 players have evolved to being about as near-CD as they are going to get, limited to the format itself, so its not really possible for one to be "light-years" ahead of all the others at this point. I've been through about 2 dozen MP3 players, and thats my opinion.

even a Bose WaveRadio sounds "pretty good", but its $500, with which you could do a lot better, in the opinion of many people.

It's just an audio shop in the mall. (South Coast Plaza.. has every name brand store you can think of)

One time me and a few friends went there and the guy was bored and he took us into the room and we watched Sports Illustrated Swimsuit DVD on a nice plasma screen and 5.1

They're quite friendly overall, although I usually don't go to that mall to buy audio equipment.

xcalibur:

Sure thing we can test it at the same time i'm testing my meta42 on her B&O

Ohh yeah forgot to tell you guys, the B&O stock software for PC is very very cool, it displays a nice black bar on the right of your screen, really cool and nice to use. xcalibur if you want the software let me know, it's compatible anything and it can be used as a very nice MP3 player too.

Look, there anyone who buys a Rolls Royce, Ferrari, Mercedes ever go to the shop and tell them they are overpriced? No! The same for the Beosound2, if you can't afford it then stop complaining and go buy something lower than that.

anyway I just tried out the stock earphones for the latest iPod. Nothing impressive.

Well, we all know that they are overpriced but some people still buy them. If you find the Beosound good then good for you. *suckers*

"It's clearly the best MP3 player on the planet now in terms of simplicity, durability and most importantly sound quality."

...

Some people...

First, I don't believe that this is an advertisement.

Even so, it uses the same language as a paid 'blurb,' has very little substance(AB testing w/ real headphones and detailed comparisons to competitors), makes absolute statement's about how this product compares to every other player out there("Best in the world!"), and then puts down "features," and "bells and whistles," as bad things for a product to have, and claims being expensive is a pro instead of a con, in and of itself.

This is the kind of advertising I would expect from an 8-year-old, if someone placed him in charge of an ad agency.

While I harbor no malice for the author of this review, I think it would be better suited to 3 or 4 sentences.

I'm going to avoid the long rant I want to make about a flash mp3 player(The parts of which cost virtually nothing), that some companies see fit to sell for under $50, selling for twice the amount as a 1.8" hard-drive based MP3 player(whose hard drive retails for as much or more than the ipod sells for).
