Day by day i find myself more and more wired literally

cables here and cables there...... hard drive cables, headphone cables, amp cables, power cords....

it's really out of control these days........

next to my bed i already have almost two full surge protectors just for power cords.....

i can't wait until technology addresses more and more cables until everything is totally cableless.......

where, oh, where are you Nikola Tesla?........

anyone else find the increasing number of wires, cables and cords in everyday life irritating

By the way -- just curious, aren't you worried about the possible increases of risk in cancer due to the emerging prevalence of wireless over wired?

You're joking, right? Surely you don't believe that crap that passes for research? That hasn't been any conclusive evidence so far to suggest that wireless devices harm you. C'mon, every time you walk outside (unless you live WAAAY out in the country) you're bombarded with radiation. Radio, TV, now Wi-Fi... it's everywhere, and on every frequency spectrum you could imagine.

Now, if you hook a high-gain (say, >= 30dB) antenna up to your wireless card, then yeah, you can get hurt, but that's the same with any radio waves. Crank 'em high enough and you'll get burned.

Two computers, a digital camera dock, a USB floppy, two monitors, two keyboards, two mice, a printer, an external harddrive, a console, two receivers, seven speakers, two subwoofers, two headphones, a VGA transcoder, a lamp, and a clock, all on one desk.

Wired only begins to describe it. But at least the controllers are wireless! (Nintendo Wavebirds)

yeah.... i am always with wires hanging off me...... and my bedside locker is a disaster of wires

as far as caring about cancer risks ... not at all

any minute risk they pose is far dwarved by the risk of UV-C as the ozone layer thins (Los Angeles for example)

UV-C is some pretty damn dangerous stuff

you can put UV-C sterilization lamps shining across a doorway and it will kill 99.9% of any airborn pathogens moving through the doorway

I'm not worried about the cancer risks so much. I'm sure you have all read about the Swedish cell-phone study's preliminary results by now. Some scientists say that the electromagnetic radiation disrupts brain function.

Also, the testing conducted is often invalid, in my opinion, because the threshold for harm is higher than I would specify. Current medical science may simply not be able to detect the extent of damage we are causing ourselves.

After all that though, I do use a cell phone.

I need two more things to make my PowerBook totally wireless. Wireless FireWire (which is hopefully coming) because I have two external drives always connected and wireless power so i can free myself of the power cord.

I have wireless network access and wireless audio out, both via AirPort 802.11g.

Now that I think of it, I also need wireless video to get the video to my TV from my computer without having to plug a cable in.

Of course, then I have all those cables behind my entertainment system plugged into two long powerboards. That's a mess.

yeah man !

instead of talking about which cable sounds best we can discuss air quality and the effect on hi-fi sound !

then we will all rush out and buy audio quality air purifiers and compare the sound of those then...........

welcome to the future, fun aint it
