Here's my plan: The four of us - mom, dad, teenage son, daughter - often watch TV or HDTV together after dinner. I often put on a pair of 701s or modified 580's while the rest of the family listens to the speakers. There's usually at least one or two nieghberhood friends of our kids here as well.

I'm going to stop the show and say, "Everybody has to put on headphones! The power amp just broke"

I've got three (modified) 580s one 701, one 81DJ and Stax Gammas. They'll have to go for it! I'm getting one of those studio distribution amps just to make it happen. Pretty sick, huh? A room full of people of all ages with high end cans on watching TV. I love it.

We are slowly gravitating in that direction in my house. We have four little ones so it's gonna take some time. But I had mentioned to the wife that I wanted to get a pair of really rugged closed phones for the kids so that they would leave my better quality phones alone since they keep breaking their own and so that I could even wear them when she is watching TV and the sound is intruding into my open cans. She picked up on that and now after the kids go to bed, she will often put on her phones and listen to TV that way.

The oldest two often stay up a little later and have gotten in the habit now of grabbing phones while playing computer or of course just listening to mp3, so here we are; the four of us all sitting around wearing cans and the house is totally quiet while the youngest two are peacefully snoozing away!
