Hi, this is my first post, so me and my wallet would like to thank all the contributors of this forum for the several interesting advices.
I've been told that it is possible to wear the shure e3c straight down from your ears (that is to say the cord doesn't pass behind your ears). Is it possible to do the same with e4c ?

Possible... but not advisable. You'll get considerably more microphonics that way, especially if you're moving around a lot. Also, they seem to fit in my canals better when worn around the ear -- something to do with the way they're angled. I didn't think I'd like it at first, but feels comfortable now. It helps to run the cord down your back with the plastic tube cinched up against the back of your neck.

The insertion angle is the same if you reverse the left and right sides when you invert them. In other words, if the cord hangs down, put the right earpiece in your left ear and left in your right.

Markopolo is correct about the increased microphonics when the cords are not draped over your ears. However, if you are sitting at a desk, that doesn't matter as much to me as the ease of removal and reinsertion when dealing with interruptions.

That's why the Shure logo is written one way in a face and the other way down on the other face of each phone, so that it can fit every single convenience

My e4 hasn't arrived yet but the way I prefer to wear the E3 is reversed, cord down, en I put the Y-piece in my shirt on the backside. No microphonics whatsoever, no cord pulling.
