Mids is tricky since for me the IEMs I found the Mids to be mesmerizing started from $4,499 unlike Bass or Treble.

I know you don’t believe in burnin… I listen it 3-4h and left it 100h in repeat, today sounded not thin and harsh as new.

If you don’t care on bass try a Fitear ToGo!334, if you prefer a better bass with same hypnotic mids try new TG334😍

Question: What would people here consider a benchmark IEM for mids at the $1.5k price range? Supermoon is (among other things) a benchmark for bass, Gaea for treble...what's the best IEM you can get for $1.5k right now in terms of emotive, seductive mids?
The Oriveti OV800 have 8BA, thereof 4 for the mids. These are my way to go for a mid-centric and emotional signature. Vocals are palpable and instruments are realistic sounding without any sharpness. BA bass (subbass focused with nice transition into the mids) and slight presence in the upper-mids, though. Coming from an upper-mids and 6Khz sensitive listener, the above needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Priced at USD 1K, the OV800 are not true allrounder, only my mids kings.

Massively overlooked IEMs in the audio community, unfortunately…

I like them especially now they have over 100hrs on, good imaging, smooth immersive sound, clean impactful bass, lovely mids and reach high when needed, My only nit pick is the slightly wide bores but they fit ok. I'm using the supplied tips over my own.
Szalayi responds very well to tip and cable rolling. I like a silver cable doctor juggles Assegai and Fiio HS18 tips (very comfortable like spintips with better material)
Hello friends,

Hope you all are doing great!! What is your take on the Oriolus Szalayi?? I am kinda keen on getting my hands on it, so just wanted to ask. Last night I checked out @Scuba Devils's review. That made me drool even more lol.

Custom_Grand.JPG

Been enjoying my custom Grand Maestros from the maniacs at FATfreq (pic is from them, my cell phone cam just can't even)... first pair of customs and first pair of vented IEMs, very difficult for me to make comparisons to my other earphones, so thought I'd do a preliminary random dump here...

Growing up, my older brother was a drummer and practiced regularly in our home, occasionally to quite enjoyable effect; one of the instruments I dabbled with over the years is bass guitar (with much less success). The combination has left me highly attached to deep, impactful bass, while simultaneously being quite sensitive to mid bass bleed out. I want my butt kicking sub bass with crystal clear lower mids. The slope FATfreq have achieved on the Bass Cannon filter/resonant chamber on the Maestro series really, really hits target for me here. Not sure how much of the 'live feel' that results is due to tuning or just nostalgia from my times years ago on stage in the 'based' part of the band.

Whereas the Mini's have a tenuous grasp on the thunderous bass that is exciting (as though the bass could break its chains at any moment and wreak havoc), the Grand comfortably embraces it into a natural and confident signature. I suspect the vented module is a big part of this more natural airiness, but these are my first equalized IEM so I don't know how much this plays out vs. more traditional amplitude response changes. The perceived result for me is a bit less bass impact with the huge benefit of a far more cohesive and natural overall sound profile.

Visible in the top of the image is the Grand's filter switch that toggle's the bass filter over to a vocal focus. I am more an instrumental guy, let a lone vocal focused music, but I have unsurprisingly found the mode to be ideal for long term podcast/youtube video, where it is a really ideal, non-fatiguing option, but it is surprisingly palatable in more mid/treble focused genres like jazz. I am really excited to try more insert modules as they become available (effectively, each new tuning will come in 2 variants care of the switch).

I would say the Gaea is also in the running for mids. Not in the sense of thick warm mids most people think of, but more so in terms of a super clean mids where I’ve rarely heard female vocals as clear, clean, and upfront. It is not thin sounding either but sounds like the singer is right in front of you but you hear every nuance of their voice. The Gaea contends way above its price point and is less than the 1.5k mark.

Agreed. The only issue I have with Gaea at this point is that lower mids/male vocals lack a bit of body sometimes and this would keep me from considering it a proper mids specialist. The top half of the mids & (especially) highs are top tier though.
